Listen up romantic hopefuls: there's only one way you're going to achieve success on Valentine's Day, and that's by planning an evening with stuff that genuinely means something to you. We're guessing that foam and flower garnishes don't induce foodgasms like steak does, in which case you'd better book yourself in for a feast at Shanghai's most bad ass steakhouse: Morton's.
At all three Morton's around town – the newly opened Raffle's City Changning, the iconic IFC branch overlooking the pearl tower, or the centrally-positioned IAPM branch – there are Valentine's menus full of the most out-and-out luxuries known to American cuisine.
Don't believe us?
For just RMB588 per person (plus 10 percent) at Morton's in Changning, enjoy a starter of shrimp diablo, onion soup or crab cake, followed by a truffle butter topped center-cut rib-eye steak. Or for those more inclined to lean meat: a filet mignon 'Oscar style' – topped with fresh and sweet lump crab meat and bearnaise sauce. For dessert, enjoy a trio of power sweets: peanut butter pie, cheesecake and chocolate mousse.
Alternatively, go high – literally – at the IFC branch with the RMB1088 (plus 10 percent) menu. Here the evening starts with either the ocean platter, including Maine lobster, Alaskan king crab legs, shrimp cocktail, oyster on the half-shell and lump crab meat. Or, a baked ocean platter: bacon-wrapped scallops, jumbo lump crab cakes, grilled oysters with garlic butter and jumbo shrimp Alexander. Followed by lots of steak or more lobster, and dessert.
Ok seafood is all very well, but what if you really, really want to focus on the steak? In that case we'd recommend the RMB988 (plus 10 percent) menu at Morton's in Changning or IAPM. Here, a mesmerizingly fabulous 650g Porterhouse steak (the most popular cut at Morton's) awaits, perfect for two diners to share.
Whichever branch of Morton's you choose, we know you'll be well-fed and in the mood for love. See all the V-Day menus below.
